Small Businesses Performance: Seeking efficiency through knowledge based networks, International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management (IJEIM), 9(1/2): 47-67. (SCOPUS Listed). In common with S. Vliamos and N. Tzeremes (2009).

This paper uses Data Envelopment Analysis to examine 252 small size enterprises (SSEs) with different levels of foreign ownership operating in the Greek manufacturing sector. With the help of some measurable resources in input-output relationship, it estimates the efficiency levels through the level of returns to scale of enterprises operating in the Greek manufacturing sector. Resources such as foreign ownership, sales, number of employees, intangible and tangible assets are examined. The empirical results support the resource-based view and reveal that foreign ownership, tangible assets and the number of employees contribute positively to the efficiency of small enterprises. Finally, this paper constitutes to other studies’ findings supporting the need of knowledge and resource based networks for small business development.
